Jim, John, et al,
Last I heard, Excalibur had totally eliminated that stage and all of
the entertainment on it about two or three years ago. They also were
not very good at publicizing what was there when they had the stage.
You almost had to know it was there or come across it by accident. I
did see many very good acts, including several puppetry and related
acts, on that stage on trips to Vegas. Sorry to see it go, even more so
for the acts that were there.
Been about a year since I was last there, so I can't even tell you
what puppet things are out there now. Most of my current contacts there
are in the circus, magic, and clown area now. About the only free
entertainment in Vegas these days is at Circus Circus where they have a
clown show on the midway and a stage that circus acts appear regularly
on throughout the day. There are some "showlettes" involving the come
ons for some of the Casinos, like the pirate ship one for Treasure
Island, that are free, but these are more like big production numbers
rather than a show.
