Subject: [Puptcrit] Videos available


Hello Critters,
   Just wanted to let all know about some DVDs that are currently 
available at the Dollar Tree stores. They have a set of four (four 
individual DVDs, not sold as a set) of the "Davey & Goliath" series. 
This is the Art Clokey (Gumby) series and Alan Cook worked on some of 
them. It's the Dollar Tree, so 4 DVDs = $4.00. Not bad for 7.5 hours of 
video.
   Available at some Kroger Grocery stores for only $9.99 are several 
puppet related videos including "Clash of the Titans" that Ray 
Harryhausen did the stop motion puppetry on, and "Labyrinth" and "Dark 
Crystal" from Henson.
   And finally, at some various dollar stores, recently I've seen some 
DVDs of Shari Lewis, and a series of DVDs of "Britannica's Fairy Tales 
from Around the World" produced by Encyclopedia Britannica which 
includes several pieces done by Puppetoons, Ray Harryhasusen, and some 
others. Not all are stop motion or puppets, some are classic animation. 
Occasionally I will also see a "Howdy Doody" in the dollar store as 
well. Quality of the images on the DVD is sometimes mixed, depending on 
the "masters" they were taken from.
