I think there are a few possible reasons you aren't seeing your 
recent discussions take off as much as some topics have.

  - You are good at what you do, and write about it very thoroughly. 
So, following up on that is harder.
  - Writing about the physical/visual aspects of making a puppet is 
harder than writing about a topic like like "bad audiences".
  - Discussion on any E-mail list will have times of high posting, 
and even total dead times. Figuring out the logic of when it does 
this is like trying to define art.
