I read about it somewhere when I was looking for kombucha recipes, and decided to give it a try. Looks and feels like the thinnest leather I've ever seen, but also like a fallen automn leaf... Very inspiring! As kombucha gets colored by the ingredients used in its preparation, I'm guessing it might also take dyes when dried... For making durable wings, I think it would need an armature, maybe thin wire, as is the tradition in Fairy Art Doll making. For the curious, the blog post linked above contains a picture of a dried Scoby, more info, and a link to more info about Kombucha, a health drink you brew at home quite easily. I might use this as a closer-to-scale leather to make accessories in my short puppet film. So far, I have a puppet on the way, which has promising snake-like movements, thanks to stretch fabric and sand. _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
