Hi Sean, & fellow critters: The analysis of the Potter Puppet Pals was welcome and helped to put things in perspective for me. I didn't feel a need for anyone to 'defend' the show as such, but it did help to generate Sean's thorough essay and Preston and Daniel's remarks. I don't recall that PPP was attacked. I think I only stated (indirectly) what has been repeated by Sean: That PPP '...have their own charm, of which their creators and the audience for whom they were intended are aware.' I used the words '..appealed to a certain audience' or some such... Sean's observations hit the nail on the head, and seems to me to be exactly why Jim Henson, and Baird to a degree, succeeded on television -they USED (in a broader sense) the medium of choice - '...their sketches are not really meant to be seen in a live puppet booth, or even merely on TV, but are filmed specifically for Youtube, with the tiny screen becoming their "virtual pupet theatre," and they are intended for a Youtube audience of young Harry Potter fans.' > 'Who knows where the gang behind the Potter Puppet Pals will be in five > years, or what they will be doing? =A0Right now I think they are having fun, and > entertaining both themselves and their audience. =A0What they are doing now may > not be too different from short commercials and sketches and PSAs not only > Jim Henson but Bil Baird and others might have done in their early days, too.' > I can't help but agree with Sean.
