The idea was that he escaped a Soviet-dominated Hungary to the freedom of performing at Knotts' Berry Farm, in Buena Park, Orange County, CA. As previously reported on puptcrit, Tony passed away, but I am not sure of the date. I do recall that many puppeteers admired his skill, and Tony was sufficient cause to visit Knotts' along with Knotts' famed chicken dinners. Last Christmas & other Assorted Holidays Season, a visit to Knotts proved disappointing---no ice show cuz the ice had melted, a dismally tacky parade, low quality "handicrafts" by the ton, and old attractions such as the haunted shack, & the miniature museum, zither players, and the guy in a jail cell talking to visitors by their proper names---all gone, gone, gone. Appreciate the good things in your life before they disappear. I remember him as having an accent? Did he do more than Knotts? And, yes, I miss the old Knotts, but my father and I still have guys night out at the chicken dinner restaurant every time I go out to California.
