I can remember, a couple of years ago I wanted to get a nice shiny surface on a piece of sculpture that had been cast out in clear resin, so I "painted" that with superglue. That did the job and was quicker than polishing. I guess you just have to make sure that your surface is very clean and dry before applying, and don't use too much glue?
