Apparently, the budget she seemed to posess and allowed to spend was in her parent's accounts, the expense subject to approval. Before I was able to call the parents as scheduled, the kid called me and told me her mother was not ok with this expense at the moment. At 20$ a week (allowance), she says it shouldn't take long to gather the money. Ok... Reality check. She would call me again later in the year, when she will have the money. I'm not counting on it. Interests vary greatly at age 14. She'll probably outgrow it. Oh well. I was a perfect gentleperson the whole time of our dealings, friendly calm and in control. Maybe it was a good practice round, instead of a real waste of time. I don't make pressure sales. I just wish customers would act on their plans and only when truly ready. Once, I was hired to create a whole bedroom decor in the theme of Harry Potter's bedroom at Hogwarts. What a hoot it would have been, I had to make everything, from the paintjob (faux wood, faux rock walls) and accessories (shelves, potions, even a magic broom!). The contract was cancelled right before I started, because of the events of 9/11. They wanted to keep the money in case their relatives in New-York should need it. After about 6 months I called them to see if we were back on track, but they said the kid had outgrown that fantasy phase. _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
