there is a product called powertex... (Kismet once mentioned it)

I really like it. Don't know if you can put it into a spray bottle or not, 
do know you can brush it on.
It does reach its full hardness in two weeks however a piece is ready to go 
in like 24 hours...

Use it for a lot of things...but also use mod podge and sculpt and coat for 
a lot of things too.
Each has its place....
If it was my problem would probably try the powertex stuff first.
