On Se- Same Street we had rods that actually bent at the tip and slid into the hand. Other puppets at other places I had straight rods that were stationary and didn't come out. I understand the dowel rod at the base but what I would like to ask you critters is if you know of the diverse rods and/or can you tell me where I might find/purchase them. We have rods at our workshop, but I know there are different types and I'd like to educate myself about them. ---------------------- Dear P.A.T. I'm using carbon fiber rods, 1/8" or a little thinner. Very light, strong and stiff, black, they are used for model planes and kites. At the end I epoxy a fork which engages a thin wooden tang on the puppet's hand, attaches with a thin bent wire through a pivot hole. You can see the tang here: http://www.firlefanzgallery.com/makepup05.html But at the Wakka Wakka show "Fabrik" I saw last month, they were using some kind of very springy steel rods that often were pretty radically bent in use. Seemed that would help when controlling both arms with one hand. best, Ed _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
