I know people have used it for that, but I always thought it was more about Punch getting the best of everyone. Punch always wins. He even overcomes Death (and in some versions, the Devil). He is Supreme Anarchy -- the force against which no authority figure has authority. Rolande Rolande, Of course you are absolutely correct. It was meant to be a humorous response! Academics do need to take their history seriously. But we (I) don't always have to be so academic. That is part of the fun! It is easy to be nitpicking but to quote a song from Cabaret "Life goes on whether were here or not . . . so who cares? So what!" Please excuse my twisting of the Punch and Judy plot. It just seemed a natural since the family unit is Punch, Judy and the baby. And being of the male persuasion I'm confounded by women always wanting us to be more like them. It's the other way around according to Henry Higgins. Elaine and I often laugh at the lyric, "Why cant a woman be more like a man?" It would make it so much easier for us, (men). It's amazing there are so many heterosexuals that keep on trying! Mary, You probably got more info than you could want! Elaine is always trying to improve me. I'm afraid by now it is a lost cause!
