Even more so when the glue is partially dry. This is a very cool crackle medium, very affordable and often much better than the actual crackling mediums! Yet, cracks are not always wanted, so to avoid this, I have two tricks: - paint the dried paper mache object with a layer or two of diluted Weldbond (it's a special PVA adhesive). This adhesive grabs onto paper mache (and almost anything), and becomes a great sealer. The acrylics love Weldbond and grab onto it perfectly, without cracking (even if used over yellow carpenter's glue). Later, when painting your figure, mix some Weldbond with the paint, and you have a paint that is even more scratch and bump resistant. This has been tried and tested by me, for years. One hickup: weldbond is glossy, and adds gloss to your paint if mixed with them. -new method for me: paint a layer or two of a pure acrylic paint of a good quality, undiluted and unmixed(no other color), and let dry fully. It acts as a sealer, and if you choose a compatible color, it can be your basecoat at the same time. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mathieu René" <creaturiste-AT-primus.ca> To: <puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org> Sent: Friday, May 02, 2008 7:35 PM Subject: [Puptcrit] Back online (off-topic) > Hi all. > > I'm told there have been talks of paper mache during my absence! > I'll try to read most of it, if the archives don't swallow all my patience > too quickly. > LoL > > For the curious as to my unusual absence: > I have been disconnected for three weeks, mostly due to the evil > communications company that supplies my internet and phone connections. > They made a huge billing mistake, and I had to pay for it.
