On a paper mache pulp texture, I tinted a mixture of shellac with some mica powders(Pearl-Ex). The mix was fizzing like a carbonated drink for some reason, but the end result was a neat stone-like finish, satin finished. One time when my old shellac was not going to stop being sticky on a piece I could not re-do, I rubbed some shoe polish on it, and it stopped the stickyness. Warning: cured shellac is susceptible to alcohols, so don't let it come in contact with it. Also, sweaty hands will make some of the finish come off, so make sure you don't use shellac alone on a handle (like a magic wand or a walking stick). _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
