Volume 6: Sculpting the Femme Fatale I had the luck to see this newest addition to the series at a friend's house, and am definitely going to purchase it for myself as soon as I can. It contains the information that I wanted the most, and that was not covered enough in the other volumes. Namely: sculpting a female figure, but it also shows the face modeling in much closer detail, and this time, it's not a creature or monster, it's a human! This newest dvd also has added features that make the theories easier to grasp: transparent overlays showing basic shapes, curves and angles, comparisons with a live model, simplifications of the forms. More than impressive! Highly recommended! I'll wait for it to be available on Amazon like the other volumes already are, as the ordering process is MUCH easier than on the Gnomon Workshop's website (Gnomon does not accept Paypal payments, and their shipping costs are VERY high). To have a better grasp of the whole process of sculpting a humanoid figure in clay, I recommend you get at least volume 2 (Character Maquette) and Volume 6 (femme fatale). If you want to know how he does his awesomely practical detachable armatures, do get Volume 1 (armatures). Videos are the second best way (next to learning in person from a pro) I've found to learn a new method. Sometimes, it might even be better, since you can always watch it again and again, to get the info engrained in your mind! I'd be completely thrilled and floating on a cloud if someday Brian Froud, my favorite illustrator, follows in his wife Wendy Froud's footsteps (she made a Fairy Dollmaking DVD with gnomon) and makes his own instructional drawing DVD. I'm sure it would be an instant bestseller! _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
