I don't know about full shows,
but when I was performing as a puppeteer at a festival, we were paid in 
full, even if the performance was cancelled because of rain. For that to 
happen, we had to already be on the premisces and stay there, in case the 
rain subsided. Rain indeed happened on the second day of performance.  The 
dressing room was a big tent.
We turned the waiting into an impromptu party, making improv music. I even 
made castagnetes with empty soda cans and duct tape. We didn't get to 
perform that day.
Still, it  turned into fun times, paid in full.
