In the live theatre, many who play the villains are the stars, especially in pantomime - the wicked Queen in Snow White, Captain Hook in Peter Pan, Abanazar in Aladdin, and as Alan said Joker in Batman. I always found it was more fun to play a villain than a goody. My own puppet shows latterly for children were centred round a wicked Witch called Claudia in a series of episodes centered on 'Dark Doings in Rumbles Wood'. We were continuously booked for these stories in private engagements for children's shows as they were like a 'soap'. They wanted to know what happened next.
