Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Wig Question

Hi Conrad.

I've never "wigged" in the style of a traditional vent figure, but for many
creatures i've bulilt, I used synthetic fur, short and long.

So if you don't absolutely need the look of a wig, maybe the following can
help:

When the hair need not be removable, I simply hot-glue or contact-cement it
to the scalp, large pieces where I can, and finish the edges with strands
which I cut close to the root, and install very subtly.
Hot glue is simpler and quicker to use, but can be messy if one is not
careful, and it adds to the weight.

Contact cement, when done patiently, leaving the glue-pasted strand and
scalp to dry until tacky, does a wonderful job, without any mess. Still,
some contact cements are too colored or too weak, so I go to the hot glue
more often than not.

For hot glue on the finishing strands (and mustaches, eyebrows), I cut the
strands straight or at an angle, squeeze some glue on the root, making sure
I spread it around to form a glued root, then press against the suirface. I
dip my fingers in cold water, then can manipulate and shape the hair quite a
lot.
Makes the glue dry matte too.
