I've long been a lurker on Pupcrit but I see that Paul has outed me... :) So I thought I would respond. The Wii finger tracking I found to be pretty fascinating. It is pretty easy to get set up. The only trick is the LED array. Johnny Chung Lee uses a home built infrared array on his youtube demo. However, I found the reflection from the led array onto the reflective duct tape and into the ir sensor on the wiimote does not work very well. There is a lot of "noise" and you can't quite get solid "dots". I developed the glove because it is a direct source of ir light and works much better. Not to mention that you can move your hand anywhere within a set area and you will always get a constant image. With the reflection, you have to stay in a more confined space. If anyone is interested in the specs for the glove, you can reply to this thread and I'll post them. You can also find more information about finger tracking on www.wiimoteproject.com I think that finger tracking has a lot of possibilities for puppetry.
