I've been present (and on stilts) when another stilter went down and shattered both wrists. It was a combination of not enough practice, restricted vision from a mask, and trying to catch herself. The very first lesson in stilting is never put your arms out to catch yourself. Pull your arms in and let your full body take the blow.
