Hey Jon,
I was there as an undergrad '82-'86. I don't really remember her  
wardrobe but I can imagine she had friction with Mel Helstein. I  
think he had friction with everyone when I was there. I remember  
being in the puppet shop one evening when I heard Mel yell "I hate  
Students". All I could think was "Man you have been here too long".  
Though I am sure all professors feel that way at some point. And  
although I was there for 4 years, doing puppetry pretty seriously for  
3 of those, I never actually heard a lecture by Mel.
I think he retired after '86, and sadly died soon after.
