But, when she died, the program did as well. I am surprised that more theater programs don't offer puppetry, even as a small supplement to the traditional theatre program. Marionettes, especially, would be a great way for students to build sets, do lighting, and costume actors for an entire show. Even if they never manipulated the puppets, that alone could be valuable. The "actors" could even be stock cloth marionettes the students borrow for the project. But, I suspect most would prefer to make their own. A "cookie cutter" set of patterns, doll heads, and hands could be made available. This may be the only opportunity most students get, to flesh out an entire full-stage show.
