Handspring has an excellent web site
They are scheduled to present their version of the Monteverdi opera
Il Ritorno d' Ulisse (The Return of Ulysses)
in March 2009 at the Moore Theatre in Seattle

Their production of Woyceck on the Highveld was the artistic triumph of the
UNIMA festival in Perth
It was a very very powerful work of theatre

I had the honor and privilege of interviewing Adrian Koher while I was in
Perth.
I briefly met Adrian's partner Basil, at the end of the interview

Adrain was inspired by his mom who was a teacher who used puppetry as a
teaching tool in South Africa.
He went to art school already convinced that he wanted to be a puppeteer.

John Wright (from South Africa, before he founded the Little Angel in
London) was another influence
Adrian continues the tradition of wood carving.
His carved puppets are deeply expressive. He sites the wood carvers of Mali
as another inspiration

Adrian told me that carving the horses for Warhorse, and carving replacement
parts, got him behind schedule for working on new puppets for the revival of
Woyceck

This deeply committed artist and activist was kind and modest and without
pretension. It truly was an honor to meet him.
