Hobey;

I got one of these for my birthday in June from my friend/fellow puppeteer
Brian Henning who found 2 of them in their original wrappings at an antique
store! He too, got them cheap. I worked for Bil for 2 years and didn't know
about these. He did teach me about snuff and dark rum though....

I bought a Bil Baird commercial hand puppet on e-bay for $10! It
couldn't be too valuable because I was the only bidder. Back at the
Fort Mitchell festival I almost won the auction for a real head from
the whistling Wizard but had to leave early and was out bid by $5
#%$&*!!! I ended up buying with Pady Blackwood's advice a large
Baird working drawing for a couple of puppets. I have loved it. I
remember Bil showing me how he perforated the drawing with a little
pattern wheel and pounced the drawing with a blue chaulk bag to
transfer the drawing. I still use the technique to mass produce
butterfly pattern on foam for teacher workshops. I have attached a
photo of my new Baird hand puppet.
