Subject: [Puptcrit] Alexander Calder's Circus

The New Yorker magazine, October 20, 2008, mentions on page 8 ("Art") and p 14 (Whitney Museum of American Art) that an exhibit "Alexander Calder: The Paris Years, 1926-1933" opens October 16 (Madison Avenue-AT-75th St, NYC. This time frame marks the creation of the table top puppet circus and the invention of mobiles. Before 1926, Calder had stints as an "automotive engineer, a fireman in a ship's boiler room, and an illustrator"---perhaps other puppeteers would profit from such training?
