Subject: [Puptcrit] Bread & Puppet controversy

Cheap art has a place, but a lot of it is very temporary. Many modern paintings made with cheap materials have already deteriorated. Foam puppets have a limited shelf life.

The cheap art manifesto has its valid points, but also has a fundamentalist edge (that other approaches are wrong?

We have already had too much of that.

The jab at museums is a cheap shot. Sure, many big, rich museums are "elitist"---it is how they get the money so the PUBLIC can see stuff.

And smaller museums which are anything but elitist, do amazing things with a lot less money, helped by unpaid or low-paid workers (cheap).
