Yeah, know what you mean. Can happen the other way too, even when 
dressed in a somewhat subdued artistic manner.

Often, for my "professional" go to meetings attire, I wear a fun tie 
and/or vest. For me it strikes a balance that says I'm professional, 
but I am in a business that also means fun.  At least that's what I 
hope it conveys.  I may be just kidding myself and justifying some self 
expression.

BTW, one of the quotes I try to keep in mind, particularly for 
business, is "You never get a second chance to make a good first 
impression."
Another is "Always dress better than your audience."
