Ray built stages, worked with lighting for Suzari, so when he moved west to Glendora CA he brought useful knowledge ot Clokey Productions. Nick Coppola is back at Macy's in NYC for the 34th year for Macy's annual puppet shows through the coming holidays. David Sedaris was a Macy's elf one Cristmas-I forget which book by him tells that story. And Macy's annual parade of balloons first created by Tony Sarg will appear Thanksgiving Day. I'll blame my error on the fact that Sue and Suzari both start with the letter "S". ALAN COOK P.S. Now I have to forward this to Joe Clokey too. -----Original Message----- From: Alan Cook Sent: Monday, November 24, 2008 3:47 PM To: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Subject: [Puptcrit] Gumby/Davey & Goliath/Clokey Productions/Premavision There is quite a bit of history of Art Clokey's stop-motion puppet animation as well as news about current projects from Clokey Productions and Premavision. http://www.premavision.com/ I have not seen Art or his son Joe since Gumby's 50th Birthday blast in San Francisco, but Joe is making great progress as indicated on the webpage where there is much to see. It is worth looking at! There is a Clokey history by-the-decade, starting with 1950s. Under 1960s history, there is a photo of the crew at the Glendora staff (I think before I was there)--and puppeteer Ray Peck is identified in the accompanying caption. Previously he had been an aspiring actor in NYC where he got puppet training wiorking with the SUE HASTINGS MARIONETTES troupe. "Davey & Goliath's Snowboard Christmas" is a one hour TV Special in the works. Gumby is also poised for a comeback. Also take a look at www.thedeeparchives.com/products.php?studio=clok&ctgy=aa for pictures of clay Gumby cast members from past productions (many from 1980s) listed at high prices beyond my budget. Deep Archives (NY/NJ) did a Gumby/Clokey exhibit last year at the Atlanta CENTER OF PUPPETRY ARTS which I wish I could have seen. Art Clokey made early TV history and I am pleased that Joe Clokey has dedicated himself to preserving Art's puppetry legacy. ALAN COOK P.S.
