Kelly... I think the thermal plastic you are 
looking for is sold by Taxdermists supply houses in larger sheets.

You might be also get some thick sheet plastic 
(styrene, abs, etc).  and dip a strip in boiling water to shape it at home.

best to you.   I have planters too.   Got some 
good running shoes that help during the day. I haven't had the night problem.
