I bring incense and break little charcoal tabs into nuggets to make them burn very briefly (so as not to set off the smoke detector). I have favorite music stashed away in a very small portable (no iPod for my budget, but there are other options), with little headphones - helps a lot with noisy neighbors, too. Then there are the small creature comforts of taste. I get a big kick out of a nibble of candied ginger and another nibble of dark chocolate, and then maybe followed by a sip of Jameson whiskey in my little brass cup. Warmth and snuggling is big in my book, so I have my treasured garment, a species of poncho I made out of a very soft fine wool doubleknit and lined with silk - it folds up to about the size of a burrito, and feels lavish. When I travel to Europe I have to carry everything I have at all times, so I'm ruthless about packing small. Nevertheless, I've found the way to carry these little pleasure-sparks, and I have truly found them wonderful.
