Subject: [Puptcrit] Fire


Hi Mathieu

I regret that your email re Fire and regulations for it's use indoors  
is not futile in the light of what has happened last evening in Bangkok.
The Night Club fire which killed 57 people and injured many more  
started on the stage and caught light to the whole ceiling  very  
quickly. Apparently only one exit was open. People were trampled on  
and panic ensued trying to get out.

Fire is great to look at where it is controlled. I used to use fire in  
an act of mine in Variety Theatres over forty years ago and at band  
call on a Monday morning in a new theatre where I was playing, the  
fire officer had to O.K. my act , despite the fact that any flames  
were under my control at all times.

My thoughts go with all the people who have lost their lives on New  
Years Eve where there were obviously no safety checks. I am sure that  
those involved did not think that safety is futile.
