Diffused light will give you sharp shadows only when the shadow puppets touch the screen and the rods etc won't be as visible if at all especially if the rods are perpendicular to the puppets. Focused light will allow you to hold the puppets away from the screens but the rods will be in focus as well. The only thing you might consider is that if you had detachable holders that attach to the sets above the puppeteers, you can eliminate the extra gear and the stands won't get in your way when people are moving about below. We will be using masks, dancers, rod puppets and shadow puppets. My plan is to build three free-standing set pieces - two center stage pieces representing buildings (shadow puppets appear in several of the windows during the night scene) and a longer piece upstage representing more of the village with hills in the distance. > > Naturally, we want to be able to haul it all around easily in a minivan. > > Anybody have any tips or suggestions?
