They were so annoyed by not being able to use the fire that they played the soundtrack to a blank stage and shined bright lights in the audience's eyes. There was a Russian company who used actual burning candles (they hadn't told anyone nor asked permission) in the middle of a stage strewn with crumpled newspaper. That made me nervous.
