Someone mentionned to me, in person, that using something like plastic wood 
(or non toxic wood putties) for the eyelids would work. My main concern with 
that is the way the wood stain might be absorbed differently by the chosen 
compound than by real wood around it, making the seam between them less than 
elegant.
I do not want to really paint this puppet, I just want subtle stains to 
accentuate some areas.
