Montreal! brrrr. -------------- Nah Hobey, don't worry. I don't think you're wimps for not liking the cold. I HATE it with a passion myself. It is so cold since yesterday that my face hurts after about a minute outside. Your ear drums get frozen if you stay out too long! Your sinuses freeze first, then the face! The more I try to build the warmest winter hat and gloves, the more I'm tempted to simply make a mascot head. It's definitely warm, definitely protects the whole head. The only two problems: kind of bulky when not wearing it, and there is the very tangible risk of being attacked. Many idiots and morons find it funny to attack costumed characters. Other idiots and morons like to watch. Just today, I made yet another winter hat, and I'm about to make yet another pair of gloves! My last matched set failed on three counts: -not warm enough for the extreme days we've been having these past two weeks -gloves are slightly too tight -the hat, although full of versatility, has NONE of the positive effects on people that my previous successful hats had. Today's new hat is a revisit of an old model from last year. It's a simple tube of long-haired synthetic fur, which is patterned upside down, so that the fur will always look raised. it's like a cartoon version of a russian hat, with eyes of course. I used my regular tuque as a liner inside. I hope it suffices under most conditions. If not, I'll add an extra liner of umbrella fabric, to stop the wind. Heck, I'll not take a chance, I'll rip the lining off and add the extra lining tonight! _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
