Subject: [Puptcrit] The Happy Puppetry Company


Saturday, January 17, the Taiwanese traditional puppet troupe performed in Los Angeles in the Keck Ampitheatre on the roof of Walt Disney Concert Hall for a total of 500 to 600 people.

 Today, Sunday January 18 the puppets perform in the Delaware Art Museum, 2301 Kentmere Parkway, Wilmington DE  19806 at 1:30 & 2:30 p.m.

Flushing Town Hall, 137-35 Northern Boulevard, Flushing NY 11354 will host the troupe Thursday Jan. 22 at 10:00 & 11:00 a.m. and Saturday Jan. 24 at 2 p.m.

Tuesday January 27, San Antonio TX 78212 in Chapman Auditorium of Trinity University there is a 7 p.m. performance.

The first half of the program depicts warriors and a fierce tiger (eventually the tiger loses). Second half has a calligrapher, a fire eater with real flames, a man on horseback rescuing a maiden from a comic flirty man, and riding off together in true bliss. There are plate spinners, and more variety acts. All this to live music which adds much to the total effects.

In the program booklet there is a photo of the cast on page 5 with an unidentified Bart Roccobarten of University of Conn. at Storrs, and the elaborate puppet stage in the background.
