Subject: [Puptcrit] Tips: Hot glue carvings

Last week, I made smooth teeth out of hot glue sticks.

I just carved the end of a stick with a craft knife, then rotated the stick
above my heat gun, removed while keeping the rotation, then quickly dipped
in cold water. Very smooth teeth, no tool mark!
If not dipped too long, the teeth can be squished a little before it cools,
to alter the shape.
The cooled teeth can be cut off the stick, and glued with more hot glue. Or
you can leave some extra stick material to serve as root to implant into
your structure.

I carved some claws in a similar way for a demon puppet last fall, but I
didn't heat-smooth them, not remembering it could be done (from the year I
used hot glue without a gun, using candles).
Still, I liked the tool marks on the claws, made them more gritty and
disgusting!

Hey Hobey, could you please repeat the info you just gave on Puppethub about
the hot glue stick hands!
