You should check this but I'm pretty sure that Scothchgard is an estrogen
mimic and can have extremely bad effects of developing birds.

Can fur be scotch garded or rendered otherwise liquid resistant? I am
working on a nature center bird feeding project and, well, the grisly things
they feed these leave stains. I would like to have a surface around the
feeding mouth that would be  wipable but still blend in with the rest.
