When challenged on a "historical detail" he replied "Do you want the facts, or do you want a good story?" So why let the facts get in the way of a good story? I say the Mona Lisa was rolled up and stored in the glove compartment of Monet's car as he drove on Al Gore's information highway. Bet you didn't know that those guys time travelled together - on their way to puppet shows of course. You read it on the internet, so it must be true!
