Bettleheim was NOT original---he borrowed the ideas that made his book worth reading, and he knew how to exploit the market

Me too. It makes you think about the importance of providing fairy  
tales to children. All of you who do that ... kudos!

Bettleheim got into trouble for some corporal punishment at his  
school, and plagiarism in his writing, and I think you could complain  
about the way he is so sure of his little Freudian story analyses.

But his main points are very attractive to me and I don't seem to run  
across them anywhere else. So I think he's a pretty original guy.
