Consider substituting the word narration with storytelling in thinking
about it. That can include dialogue from characters. As long as the
meaningful animation of your puppets is bringing life to your
characters then storytelling or dialogue are interchangeable. The
magic happens when we believe in the life of the puppet, but the story
is there to take you somewhere deeper and that can be dialogue,
narration/storytelling or purely visual action.
