Yesterday I installed my extra toaster oven in my studio, to use it for warming up the clay, and keep it warm. It works even better than the old bread box I had added a lightbulb to. The trick is to keep the oven at very low temp, below 200F, and turn it off when the clay is well warmed. It will keep warm for a while with the door closed. I covered the grid with aluminum foil, to prevent any spill from reaching the lower element. The clay I to warm up is broken up in smaller pieces, and placed within an aluminum pie plate. To have the oven at ideal height, I installed it inside the tall bookshelf that I use to store acrylic paints. I screwed the bottom drawer of the toaster oven to the shelf, to prevent it from falling down, should I ever grab it by mistake. The toaster oven cost me nothing, I found it, brand new, on the street last year. I was planning to choose it over my old one, but it turns out the old one is still better at what I need it to do in the kitchen. _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-puptcrit.org Admin interface: http://lists.puptcrit.org/mailman/listinfo/puptcrit Archives: http://www.driftline.org
