What about a trifold stage sort of like or even made from a scaled down project display board that would fit into a 30" X 24" X 3" plastic portfolio carrying case. It could be card board or 1/8 inch Luaun plywood for strenghth. You could have a card board (or the same luaun) framed shadow screen insert or a thin sheet of white plexiglass for shadow use but then make it removeable to where a simple black backdrop could be installed. It could then suffice for glove puppets or two dimensional rod puppets. These 2D figures can be fully jointed rod puppets made from matte board. The joints are made with plastic rivets fashioned from weed eater cord with the ends heated and flattened. You illustrate the facades of the figures. They are sort of animated toy theater figures. scenary flats are optional but a little playboard is nice. Drill holes in the 2" X 1" X 20" wood playboard for holding small scenary props or puppets. Its mulit-use and if she does work shops afterward she can take her pick of techniques. The most compact lighting for all the uses would be a mini flourescent which could pack nicely at the top of the case. or a very small clip on spot. I've used a plug in light socket and a lamp extention cord with a small aluminum pie tin visor with your pick of bulbs, this hung from a yard stick above. The scenary drops or backdrop or scrims hang from a yard stick-like stick which hangs from the top in slots cut into the wings of the project board. include a pair of long black gloves and throw in a peeper for good measure. Shoot, I'm going to go build one! On Mon, Jan 5, 2009 at 4:58 AM, Mathieu René <creaturiste-AT-primus.ca> wrote: > Thanks Alan and Christopher. > > I did not really think about sightlines.
