Subject: [Puptcrit] Too inspiring = problem ?

I was under the impression that I was just about to start a new puppet
building contract this week.
I met the customer just now, and it went well.

Too well, probably.
Our discussions brought a lot of ideas onto the table, and now she can't
decide what she wants done first, nor which type of puppet or theatre best
suits her needs.
During our talk, she got a major breakthrough idea that seems to have taken
priority, therefore stopping the momentum for the other projects. So now I
don't see the contract starting this week, nor do I know when it will. I'm
confident it is going to happen someday this year, she's a repeat customer
and only calls when she knows she needs my services. I just don't know when,
this time.
I'm not panicking, but I'm a bit disapointed.

Halfway through our meeting, it clearly felt like I was going to go home and
start a specific puppet.
At the end of the same meeting, maybe 20 minutes later, the projects were
put on hold.

I've been working on my approach over the years, to limit the amount of
choices I offer, to avoid confusion or loss of focus. With some customers,
it seems I have to break that rule, they want more choices.

When can we tell who belongs to what category?
How much is enough information, and how much is too much?
