Subject: [Puptcrit] preserving puppetry information

How interesting that the Sue Hastings scrapbook should end up in the library at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. One just never knows where to search for certain types of information. I know that I was surprised to find the Hastings documents from the Chicago office of the Chautauqua Redpath tours in the library at the University of Iowa, in Iowa City.

Since Sue was associated with the University of Miami at Coral Gables, it seems reasonable that a collection of her materials would be in that library. Not so. After Sue had stopped teaching and Fred Koch retired, the new theatre chair put all of Sue's "stuff" out on the curb for the garbage truck to pick up.

So, in addition to preserving materials, we need some directory of where they are.

Just in case anyone runs across the documents from the
White Bureau for Chautauqua, let me know.
