Yes, I was in Russia about that time too, and it was also clear to me.....but Reagan hastened the demise by showing the Soviets that we meant business by spending money buying newer and better armaments.....

I know Ronald Reagan took credit for the fall of the Soviet Empire, but when I was in Hungary, Rumania And Bulgaria in 1965 it was obvious to me that everything was based on illusion, and it would fall apart all by itself. Basically it did.
