I think, no matter who is to blame, that it is our responsibility, or at 
least our job, to help spread the better word about what Puppetry is, what 
real quality puppets are, and what represents quality.

One example I saw again today, and it happens a lot, is the way that glove 
puppets are totally misrepresented, in two ways. I saw one proof of it on 
Google Images:
.people mix up glove puppets, hand puppets and mouth puppets.
.search the term "glove puppet", and you'll see what shows up: mostly cheap 
toys.
I've got nothin against toys, but where are the performance puppets?
