Having sewn for quite some time it is easy to automatically remember
those hard learned "secrets" and forget to pass them along as a hint to
those who are new to sewing. Yes, looking at pattern and sewing books
will show you several ways to deal with curved seams, from clipping the
edge up close to the sew line, to cutting the pattern with a slight
curve, to easing a curve, to various gathering techniques.

It might be useful to make some regular clothes for yourself, from some
patterns (try the EZ and Quick Sew patterns), to become more familiar
with the techniques. Sewing in miniature can be rather frustrating
sometimes, especially for the inexperienced. For instance, the fabric
bulk that would be okay spread over a 15" neck doesn't always work the
same way when reduced to a 1.5" neck. But knowing how it is done in
full size helps a lot when shrinking it down for a puppet.
