Humor is not only subjective, but also intellectual. One has to "get"  
the joke.

So the short answer is "funny to me".
I don't really care if it is funny to bigots & racists who read the NY  
Post.

When I craft comedy it must be funny to me before I think about the  
audience.
Then I can tweak it for those who I want to entertain.

I do have compassion for ignorant, bigoted and racist people.
Rather than pity them as fools (ala Mr T), I extend to them the  
generous idea that perhaps their ignorance, bigotry and racism is  
something they might be unaware of and may reconsider if the  
distasteful elements in question are pointed out to them.

Apparently a fair number of readers found it as stupid, ignorant and  
ill conceived as I did. So did many other journalists. I do find the  
alterative version of the cartoon to be amusing & well done.
