I do not have any examples in my collection at this time, but would certainly welcome examples. He was a SHOWMAN in the traditional sense, travelling widely, using foreign phrases in German or French on occasion which impressed the mono-language audience members. The old-time medicine showmen posed as medical or scientific experts. Augustus Rapp visited small town America with mind reading, marionette shows, a bit of magic, bringing culture to the backwoods like a one-man Chatauqua program. Daniel maintained that tradition in some ways, perfoming to classical music recordings, referring to his performances for royalty and heads of state, and all of that. It is a great tradition. It brought unexpected imagination to a lot of people through puppets. It is important that we do not underestimate this accomplishment. I suppose that you do not have any of his marionettes in your collection. I wonder if there are any photos anywhere?
