Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] A Puppeteer's Dream

Ah, the puppet dream...

I once dreamed that I was on the way to a festival and I didn't have
the puppets for the show. I was to do "Frog Prince" opposite Bob N. I
didn't even have a well for the opening scene. Oh, wait, that wasn't a
dream, that actually happened. I had to borrow Bob's well, and Terry
finished the puppets for me on the drive to the festival. Fortunately
this was a only workshop performance.

Another time I had a dream that I was setting up to do a show and the
featured character in one of the stories was on display 4 hours away.
Unfortunately that wasn't a dream either. I was able to sub a minor
character in place, but it sure felt weird.

Another time I had a dream that I was fighting my way through a storm
(in my van) to get to a gig. I spun out and ended up in a ditch. Got
pulled out and back on the road. Made it to the gig late, but with
barely enough time to get set up and do the show, only to find out that
it had been cancelled due to the weather - and they neglected to call
me. Nuts, that wasn't a dream either. (I did demand and get paid in
full for the gig.)

Once I dreamed that I got caught in traffic going from one gig to
another and arrived at the gig 5 minutes before the show was to start.
Hold on. No. That actually happened too. I had the sponsor apologize to
the audience and tell them it would take about 15 minutes to set up the
show. No one left and they enjoyed seeing the set up too. Luckily there
was nothing that was given away by the set up.

With waking dreams like these, who needs sleeping nightmares?

Christopher
